Being less social

Friendship is like sunshine to grow a strong immune system. Studies show that the lesser human connections you have at home, work, or community, the higher the possibilities that you will be sick, be more anxious, and have a shorter life span compared to those who are more sociable.

Do not let your tight schedule get in the way of your friendships and relationships. Catch up over coffee, exchange text messages, or chit chat over the phone after office hours.

Bottling up your emotions

Some constructive argument with your partner might actually help your immune system. Be careful with these chats though as the use of insults and sarcasm might increase stress hormone levels and lower killer cells that fight off illnesses.

Do not bottle up whatever is bothering you. Talk with your husband or wife, or even with family or friends and do not hide those emotions.

Taking the car everywhere

A recent study found out that 1 in 4 American women does not take time to exercise at all. Other studies also found out that those who brisk walk almost everyday are less likely to be sick compared to those who leave a couch potato lifestyle.

Instead of driving to the nearest grocery which is just a few blocks away, try to jog or brisk walk going there. Get the blood pumping so you can also strengthen your body’s defense system.

You always take antibiotics

If you drink antibiotics at the first sign of sickness, you might have a problem in the future as you will be resistant to the antibiotics when you actually need them. Too much of unnecessary antibiotics actually harm the immune system as you will have hormone messengers that help the body protect itself from sickness.
